Easy Joining and Forum Signatures

Thursday, November 20th, 2008

It has always been a pet peeve of mine to not be able to see what servers my friends are playing on when they play multiplayer games on the PC.  With tonight’s client release, you can now see what servers your friends are playing on and you’ll be able to launch the game and have it automatically connect to the same server by clicking on the “Join” button on your Friends List in the client.

Easy Join

We’re only getting started with this feature, and have enabled Easy Join for a number of the most popular multiplayer PC titles.  Here’s the list:

  • Call of Duty (retail and steam)
  • Call of Duty United Offensive (retail and steam)
  • Call of Duty 2 (retail and steam)
  • Call of Duty 4 (retail and steam)
  • Counter Strike Source Counter Strike 1.6 (steam)
  • Wolfenstein ET
  • Halo
  • Halo Custom Edition
  • Team Fortress 2
  • Unreal Tournament 2004
  • Medal of Honor: Allied Assault
  • Medal of Honor: Spearhead
  • Medal of Honor: Breakthrough
  • Quake 3
  • Quake 4
  • Enemy Territory: Quake Wars
  • Battlefield 1942

For now, Easy Join is only for PC clients, and we’ll continue to add support for new games in the future.  As always, the client is automatically updated so you won’t have to do anything as we update this list.

The other feature we released this week is Forum Signatures.  You’ll be able to get an embed code that will work in most forums and emails.  Simply click the corner of your Raptr card (located at the top right corner of your own profile page) to get a list of embed options and select “Forum Signature”.

As you can see, the Forum Signature is a great way to show your friends what you play and when you’re playing. Like the Raptrcard, it gets updated automatically with your current status. For those of you who play it a little more low key, we also have a small version of the signature.

Discovering Flash Games Made Easy

Wednesday, November 12th, 2008

At Raptr, we’re all about making it easier for users to discover new games — and flash games rank highly on our list.  With thousands of flash games scattered all over on the Internet, it is extremely difficult to keep up with the latest cool flash games or find out which ones your friends are playing.

To help, we have released a new Raptr client with an Arcade tab that contains the top 10 free-to-play flash games that we feel our users might want to check out.  In addition, we also track your presence whenever you are playing these games so that your friends will see it in our feed.  Although these are all single-player games, our hope is that we can make it more social by showing you which of your friends are also playing these games.

Check it out by downloading our latest client, and be sure to let us know what you think!
